OMG, guys, you won’t believe the latest!
So, get this – over 20 Joann fabric and craft stores in New York are shutting down! Yup, you heard that right! Including THREE in the Rochester area! They made the announcement in a bankruptcy filing, and trust me, it’s causing a major stir. The company, which has around 850 stores across the country, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware back in March. It’s been such a rollercoaster! They were even able to secure a whopping $132 million in new financing, but they still couldn't avoid this. They tried to stay afloat by cutting down their $1 billion debt by about $500 million. But it wasn’t enough, and now, the company is planning to close down a total of 500 of its stores nationwide. Yikes!
The news came after Joann made a huge move by filing for bankruptcy AGAIN in January. They said it was to help sell their business and maximize its value. Such a crazy turn of events! And now, they’ve officially confirmed that all these stores are on the chopping block! The closures are expected to hit locations in several places across New York, and here’s where you’ll be losing your go-to fabric store: Clifton Park, Albany, Niagara Falls, Blasdell, and so many others!
Honestly, it’s a huge blow for the communities, and we’re all left wondering how it’ll affect those who relied on these stores for their craft supplies. 😱
